- We conduct research the traditional way, on a security by security basis. Given our research orientation we are predisposed to relying on analysis rather than opinion and fundamentals more than media hype. We are comfortable standing apart from the consensus when our analysis leads to a different conclusion.
Security selection is comprised of three aspects:
- Assessment of the business, its financial performance and management capabilities.
- A measurement of the valuation of the stock price relative to its cash flows, earnings and balance sheet.
- Risk assessment – the investment has to make sense in terms of the upside potential relative to potential downside losses.
Our macroeconomic, political and company specific research teams utilize an extensive set of external data provided by leading Wall Street firms. This is privileged access which gives us the confidence to understand the broad array of views present across Wall Street. We believe having many astute views from several leading Wall Street research firms enhances our research process.
